OIL FAQs

+

How can I be sure to get the correct type of motor oil for my vehicle?

You can check your Owner’s Manual for the correct grade. Or the Chevrolet Certified Service experts at Transwest Chevrolet can help ensure you get the proper oil for your vehicle during your scheduled service visit.

+

How do I know when my oil needs changing?

The majority of today’s new Chevrolet vehicles are equipped with the engine Oil Life System (OLS), which has made the 3,000-mile oil change obsolete in most cases. Depending on the age of the vehicle, driving habits and road conditions, vehicles with today’s advanced engines can go longer between oil changes. Always be sure to check your engine oil level regularly, even with an engine OLS.

+

Does regularly changing my oil filter help with the life of my engine?

Yes, it can. It helps ensure your engine is lubricated with clean oil, which can help provide optimal engine performance. See your vehicle’s Owner’s Manual for the recommended oil change interval, or follow the engine Oil Life System, if equipped.
